Soul Food - Get Rid Of The Family Drama

Nov 20, 2013 -- 12:32pm

With Thanksgiving a little over a week away we already know that we need to prepare ourselves to deal with the joys, and the stress that comes with spending times with our families. Don’t get me wrong I love my family and I’m sure you love yours, but when you get the whole family all together there are bound to be some issues. This is why all week long I plan to give you some tips on how to rid yourself of certain behaviors now, so that next week can go as smooth as possible.

Yesterday we learned to stop putting people on pedestals, and today lets try an put an end to all our family drama!

Are there people in your family that you just can stand? Do you have a sister that brags too much or a brother that’s always in trouble?  Are you angry with your father, and even angrier with your spouse? If so rid yourself off all those ill feelings before the holidays get here!

Reach out and try to make amends with family members and fiends that you are beefing with. Even if you don’t fix whatever problems are going on by next week, you will feel better knowing that you’re not fostering any resentment or anger toward your own flesh and blood, and you’ll have a more enjoyable holiday.

If there are family members out there that you haven’t talked to in a while, reach out and send them a Facebook message, write them a later, and call them up and catch up. The holiday season is not a time to live in regrets and what ifs. Know where you stand with people.

Stop the drama this holiday season. If you’re feuding with your family, arguing with your friends or beefing with anyone for that matter step up, take responsibility and do your part to rectify the situation. The holidays are a time to cherish and make amazing memories with our families and friends, not a time to hold on to hate and push people away.
