Universal, AMC Agree to Theatrical Window

Universal Pictures and AMC Theaters have ended their beef and have come to an agreement that allows Universal films to premiere on video-on-demand services three weeks after they’re released in theaters.

The agreement has the potential to revolutionize the industry and will definitely make rival companies push for the same or better type deals to get their films in front of viewers in theaters or at home.

The deal closes the chapter on the dispute between the two after AMC vowed to no longer show Universal films after the studio released Trolls: World Tour via video-on-demand and theaters.

The financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
