NBA, NBPA Create Economic Empowerment Foundation

The NBA and NBPA have joined forces for a $300 million-funded foundation to help create economic empowerment throughout Black communities, contributing $30 million a year for the next decade.

The foundation will focus on three employment transition points like “obtaining a first job, securing employment following high school or college and career advancement once employed”, according to a statement from the NBA’s board of Governors.

The board’s chairman, Toronto Raptors Governor Larry Tanenbaum said “We are committed to to supporting and empowering young Black men and women in each of our team markets as well as communities across the U.S. and Canada.”
