Is it better to spend your stimulus on yourself or your future?

“My boyfriend has these plans to spend his stimulus on a new 4K TV, games and grubhub, but we have bills to pay and we’ve been trying to save up for a house.
He says, because we’ve been saving so much, he never gets to spend money on himself, but I feel like this is going to put us further from our goal.
Isn’t he being a bit selfish spending that money on himself?”
