How do you ask for more in your relationship without seeming needy?

“I’ve been seeing this guy for a couple months and lately he hasn’t been giving me a lot of attention.
He isn’t ignoring me, but he’s only giving me the bare minimum. Since he lives a couple hours away, it’s difficult to see him in person.
How do I bring up that I need more from him without coming across as clingy?”
