If you’ve ever flown out of some of the larger airports in the Northeast like Logan, JFK, or Philly, it’s always pretty refreshing when you know you’ll be flying out of Albany. Pick up and drop off is easy, you don’t have to walk miles between terminals and of course they have the area’s only Chick-fil-A.

Albany Airport may not have direct flights to every destination in the US, but it is one of the easiest to navigate. It may get even easier. The airport on Wednesday announced it will begin work on a $60 million project.

The new airport features will include:

  • A children’s play area
  • A new business center
  • Additional retail space
  • Expanded space for security and TSA
  • Multi-sensory calming room
  • Outdoor green space

Many current features of the airport will be upgraded as well, such as heating and ventilation and improved terminals for better and more efficient passenger and traffic flow. There are also plans to enhance the ticketing and baggage claim process.

Artist renderings below show the plans for what the improvements will look like at the airport.
