Yes, Tuesday is Election Day and hopefully this isn’t a bad omen.
A rare lunar eclipse known as a ‘blood moon’ will be visible Tuesday. It will also be the last full lunar eclipse for at least three years.
The caveat? You’ll have to be awake very early in the morning Tuesday. According to timeanddate.com The eclipse will be visible in the Albany area shortly after 3am and reach totality 5:59am. Hopefully we’ll be able to see it, as the sun will rise about 30 to 40 minutes later. The National Weather Service says skies should be clear that morning.
No telescope will be necessary, although if you have one that would be the time to use it, but the eclipse will be visible to the naked eye.
NASA says the reddish hue of the moon will come from rays of sunlight that get around the earth’s shadow, hence the name ‘blood moon’.
