Good news for Italian food lovers in Schenectady! La Gioia Italian Deli is finally reopening after closing its doors 10 months ago. The popular eatery, which has been serving customers for over 30 years, is set to reopen on Friday, April 7th, 2023, at 9AM.

La Gioia Italian Deli was first opened in 1989 by Anna DiCocco and Modesta DiCarlo. The deli quickly became a favorite among locals and visitors alike, thanks to its delicious sandwiches, pasta dishes, and Italian desserts. After 33 years of serving the Schenectady community, the owners decided to retire and closed the deli in June 2022.

Fortunately for fans of the deli, Laura Marino, the daughter and niece of the previous owners, stepped in to save the business. Marino grew up working at La Gioia Italian Deli and has a deep connection to the eatery. She announced in August 2022 that she would be taking over and reopening the deli.

The reopening of La Gioia Italian Deli is exciting news for Schenectady residents and visitors. The eatery has been a staple in the community for over three decades, and its reopening will bring back a taste of nostalgia for many. Make sure to mark your calendars for April 7th and head over to 2003 Van Vranken Avenue to enjoy some delicious Italian cuisine!
