It’s not every day that someone so young is honored as Citizen of the Month, but that’s exactly what happened in Albany County on Tuesday when 5-year-old Sadie was recognized for her outstanding community service. Sadie’s most recent achievement was helping the Colonie Police Department collect over 1,100 items to send to troops serving overseas in the U.S. military.

But that’s not all. Sadie was also named Mini Miss Military Star of New York and will be representing the state at the National Competition in July. Her remarkable story has inspired officials to hope that it will motivate others to support their community.

In addition to her recent efforts, Sadie has raised money for the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region and handed out food and blankets to people experiencing homelessness through the Street Soldiers of Albany. Her selfless actions are a testament to the incredible impact that even one person, regardless of their age, can have on the world around them.

Sadie’s dedication to helping others serves as a reminder that every action, no matter how small, can make a difference. She sets an excellent example for all of us to follow, and we should take inspiration from her story to make a positive impact in our own communities.
