On Saturday, April 29th, the Northeastern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a fantastic opportunity for Troy residents to increase their home safety. In collaboration with local volunteers, the Red Cross will be installing free smoke alarms in the homes of registered residents. This initiative aims to protect families and reduce the number of home fire-related tragedies in the community.
To register for this life-saving service, residents can visit the Red Cross website or send an email to [email protected]. But the event offers more than just smoke alarm installation. Volunteers will also educate homeowners on the common causes of home fires, how to prevent them, and what actions to take in case a fire occurs. Additionally, they will provide guidance on creating a personalized fire escape plan, ensuring that families are prepared for emergencies.
The Red Cross is actively seeking more volunteers to help make the Sound the Alarm event a success. No prior experience is required, as training will be provided to all participants.
