The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) is proud to announce the launch of Humane Heroes Unleashed, a unique volunteer program designed for kids in grades 6-12. The initiative aims to provide teenagers with the incredible opportunity to learn hands-on animal care and actively contribute to the day-to-day operations of the animal shelter.

Starting this month, the program will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 6 PM, with new sessions beginning monthly. As part of their volunteering experience, young animal lovers will engage in a variety of activities including feeding and exercising dogs, sorting donations, reading to animals, clicker training, cleaning carriers and overnight kennels, and much more.

To participate in the program, there is a $50 fee for one month, which helps support the costs associated with running the shelter. All new volunteers must attend a mandatory in-person orientation, held on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 PM. This orientation will provide essential information about the program, as well as a chance to meet fellow volunteers and the shelter’s dedicated staff.

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity for your child to develop valuable life skills, nurture a love for animals, and make a positive impact on the lives of our furry friends.
