Strange Object Spotted In The Sky

Nobody in Prophetstown, Illinois can seem to figure out what they saw in the sky the other day. It sort of looks like a cloud but at the same time it doesn't. It's white or translucent and from what eye witnesses said, it didn't move. Some said that it looked like a balloon attached to a box type structure with some red lighting. The National Weather Service says that they didn't launch any weather balloons, so we know that that's not what this thing was.
Was it aliens? Doubtful but at the same time, who knows. I'm not an expert on alien technology or aliens in general. What I do know is that nobody seems to know what this thing is or was.
