What's next for indoor lacrosse in Albany?
The Times Union reports the Albany Firewolves are leaving the Capital City and relocating to Ontario, Canada. The paper cites two sources that have confirmed the move, though no official word from the Firewolves.
The team has called the MVP Arena home for its last four seasons. In October, the team signed an extension to stay in Albany for up to six more seasons, but a source told the Times Union that certain attendance goals had not been met, a clause that allows the team to terminate the extension.
Another reason for the move, the paper says, is many of the players are from the Toronto area and with no direct flight between Albany and Toronto, travel was difficult.
No word yet on if another team is planning to come to Albany, but it sounds like the Firewolves will immediately begin their next season in Ontario.
