Despite contractions and her water breaking, Olivia Jaquith continued anchoring the morning news

Update 5/21 1:44pm: Here's how the news (and water) broke Wednesday morning

It was anything but a typical morning at CBS6 Albany. Anchor Olivia Jaquith went into labor while co-anchoring Wednesday’s morning newscast—and chose to stay on-air through contractions.

Jaquith texted her co-anchor Julia Dunn around 4:30 a.m. to share that her water had broken. Dunn expected Olivia to head to the hospital, but instead, Jaquith arrived at the station ready to anchor the show.

“This isn’t April Fools. Olivia’s water broke. In the newsroom,” Dunn said in a Facebook Live video that quickly racked up tens of thousands of views.

The first-time mom powered through three hours of news, calmly delivering headlines and even eating yogurt during commercial breaks. Her composure impressed viewers, many of whom commented that they couldn’t imagine doing the same.

After the show, Jaquith—who is expecting a baby boy—finally left for the hospital.
