Top Sauce goes to Jack’s Oyster House!

As part of the Capital Region’s annual 518 Day celebration, downtown Albany welcomed food fans for the debut of Melba Madness, a restaurant stroll dedicated to one of the area’s most iconic flavors: melba sauce. Guests made their way through participating restaurants collecting stamps and sampling dishes that featured the raspberry-based favorite in creative ways, from savory appetizers to sweet desserts.

Jack's Oyster House took home first place for its pan-seared duck dumpling served with raspberry sauce, while The Hollow Bar + Kitchen earned second for its stuffed jalapeño dish. Hilton Albany rounded out the top three with a crostini and panna cotta pairing. Along with trying each stop’s featured item, attendees who filled their stamp cards were entered for a chance to win tickets to the Albany Hot Chocolate Stroll. Organized by the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District, the event highlighted a longtime local favorite and is expected to return as a new yearly tradition.
