The Stewart's on the corner of Manning Boulevard and Central Ave is closing due to some serious safety concerns. After seeing a surge in robberies, theft and threats of violence, the Stewart's corporation made the decision to close the store to help keep their customers and employees safe.

According to CBS6Albany.com -

We pride ourselves on being part of the fabric of the communities we serve, and we worked closely with Albany Police and City of Albany officials in attempt to resolve concerns at our Manning Boulevard shop,” said Stewart’s Shops president Gary Dake. “The safety of our partners and loyal customers remains an issue at this location.

Over the past 2 years, the severity and number of incidents has increased quite a bit. There has been a number of thefts and robberies, on top of verbal and physical assaults. This has caused an unsustainable business environment forcing Stewart's to make this decision.

The employees of this Stewart's have all been offered positions at other locations.

Just to add a little brightness to this rather depressing story, let's not ever forget this outstanding song about Stewart's chocolate milk.
