Ten people died in the disaster 37 years ago
It looked like a scene from a disaster movie. The bridge that carries I-90 over the Schoharie Creek in the Montgomery County town of Florida was suddenly no longer.
It happened April 5th, 1987 at around 11am. Torrential rains and melting snow caused heavy flooding along the creek, creating a current too strong for the structure of the bridge to handle. It crumbled nearly 80 feet into the creek below. Ten people died in the tragedy.
