A scary scene but luckily nobody was hurt
What was supposed to be a routing landing turned into a potentially very dangerous situation at Schenectady County Airport Tuesday night. A small plane was attempting to touch down but the landing gear failed, causing the plane to scrape across the runway in its belly.
The Thomas Corners Fire Department arrived at the airport to find the pilot uninjured and the plane stopped on the runway. Fire chief Robert Job told News 10 that the pilot had lowered the landing gear, but it buckled when it hit the ground.
The plane skidded for a bit, causing some damage to the belly and the propellor.
