Schenectady Parade Takeover: Streets Close, Floats Roll In
Downtown Schenectady will be buzzing Saturday as the 2025 Holiday Parade rolls in, and travelers should brace for road closures, parking restrictions and a ton of family fun.
State Street shuts down in phases beginning at 10 a.m. between Broadway and Clinton, with additional closures stretching block-by-block throughout the afternoon—from Washington to Broadway at 2 p.m., Clinton to Lafayette at 2:30 p.m., and Nott Terrace to Lafayette by 3 p.m. Erie Boulevard also goes offline at Union Street at 3 p.m., and again at Erie Street at 4 p.m. Side streets along the route will begin closing around 3:30 p.m., and the Western Gateway Bridge’s Scotia side closes at 4 p.m. Drivers should also note that I-890’s Exit 4C shuts down at 3:45 p.m., with north-south travel shifting to Veeder Avenue and Nott Terrace. A full list of road closures and parking details can be found at SchenectadyCountyNY.gov
Before the main event, the celebration kicks off at 3 p.m. with a kid-friendly block party, featuring local favorite Sydney Worthley performing on stage. The parade officially steps off at 5 p.m., so anyone heading into the city should give themselves extra time—the State Street corridor and its surrounding blocks will be tight throughout the day.
