65 years ago - how similar was it?
Lake George Village has changed a lot over time - and it's stayed the same in a lot of ways. This video posted on YouTube is a drive through the village in 1961 - where (aside from the style of cars), looks strikingly familiar in 2026. Many of the same hotels and resorts are still there (Surfside, The Georgian, Fort William Henry). While it also shows us the vibrant times of Gaslight Village and Animal Land and Fairyland Village.
Forgive the blurriness, but it was shot using 1960's video technology through the window of a moving car. Still pretty cool though.
