The last time we got a full length album from Will Smith was 2005 but that all changed today!
The Fresh Prince is back with a brand new album called "Based On a True Story" which he began teasing 2 years ago. It's clearly been a process to get this album finished but the day has finally come. Smith had been rolling out singles here and there including the track that he did with Big Sean called "Beautiful Scars" and also "Tantrum" which features Bryson Tiller.
I'm sure you're wondering if he's teamed up with his long time DJ for this project as well, right? Yes, Jazzy Jeff is a part of this album as well!
We are all very aware of all of the drama that has occurred in Will's life over the past few years and this album, he says, has allowed him to reflect on a lot of it. He actually talked about that in a post that he put up on his Instagram -
There are 14 tracks on "Based On a True Story" that mix old school hip hop with some modern production. You can expect to hear a lot of self reflection on the album along with Smith tackling his personal life choices head on. Does he take on the now infamous Chris Rock incident? Well, you'll have to check out the album for yourself.
Fine, I'll give you a little taste of his new stuff. The 1st track on the album is called "Int Barbershop" and you can check it out below -
