The shelters were opened as torrential rainfall caused significant flooding, road closures, water rescues, and states of emergency in several communities throughout the Capital Region

As historic rainfall and widespread flooding continue to impact communities across the Capital Region, the Northeastern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross has opened multiple shelters to support residents forced from their homes.

Dedicated Red Cross volunteers are on site at each shelter, providing hope, comfort, and care to those affected by the flooding while communities work through the immediate impacts of the storm.

Albany School of Humanities
📍 108 Whitehall Road, Albany, NY

The shelter opened around noon to provide a safe and comfortable place for residents displaced by heavy rains and flooding until it is safe to return home.

Greenville Central School District
📍 4976 Route 81, Greenville, NY

This shelter is open to support individuals and families affected by ongoing flooding in Greene County and the surrounding area.

Hunter-Tannersville Elementary School
📍 7794 Main St., Hunter, NY

This shelter is welcoming families impacted by flooding in the Hunter area as response efforts continue.
