Damien the Great Dane Emerges Victorious In Thrilling Showdown
In a thrilling finale to SUNY Mascot Madness, local UAlbany legend Damien the Great Dane emerged victorious, narrowly edging out SUNY Oneonta’s mascot, Red the Dragon. The competition was fierce and came down to the wire, with both mascots receiving an overwhelming number of votes from their respective fanbases. Red the Dragon had a slight lead in regular votes, garnering 27,118 votes compared to Damien’s 27,100. However, it was the Bonus Social Media votes that made all the difference. Red accumulated 12,306 social media votes, but Damien the Great Dane pulled ahead with a total of 12,710, giving him the edge in the final tally.
In the end, Damien secured 39,810 total votes, just surpassing Red’s 39,424. The close race showcased the passionate support from both schools, and the final result was a testament to the strong fan engagement across the SUNY campuses. While Red the Dragon gave a valiant effort, it was Damien the Great Dane’s loyal following that ultimately claimed the title, proving that in Mascot Madness, every vote counts – especially those bonus social media votes.
