Protecting Your Reusable Cup or Water Bottle From Mold

Make sure you're cleaning your cup or bottle properly.

With the rise in popularity of Stanley Tumblers or reusable cups/water bottles, keeping them clean is something that you need to know how to do. The last thing you're going to want to have happen with your favorite water bottle or cup is for mold to form in the straw or on the lid.

What it comes down to is that you need to know how to wash it properly.

 - The first thing you'll want to do is wash it like you're washing your hands. Use warm water and soap for about 20 seconds. Be sure that you take the entire thing apart. Take the straw out, and remove all the rubber seals. Anything that can come apart, take it off and give it some attention.

 - Once you've washed it, you'll want to rinse it 3 times.

 - Last but very important is to let it dry completely.

Another method you can try is using a quarter cup of white vinegar. Experts say with this method, you don't have to rinse it out. You can simply let it dry completely. IF it still smells like vinegar when you go to use it again, just give it a quick rinse and you should be good to go.

Be sure you are washing your bottle or cup every day to make sure you avoid mold or bacteria from forming.

If you think that a dishwasher is a good option, think again. Experts say the dishwasher should be avoided when it comes to the cleaning process of reusable cups or bottles.
